Easy Chicken Recipe

Some of our homeschooling days can get very busy.
We get caught up in our lessons that
lunch just creeps up on us.
But...
I can always rely on the girls to remind me that its
time for lunch.

(Lunch is when I make our "big" family meal.)

I am glad that I always have an easy stand by in the pantry for
days like this!

Chicken Broccoli Alfredo

Its easy,quick and cheap!

All you need is:
 Alfredo Sauce
Frozen Broccoli florets
Chicken
Angle Hair Pasta
milk

Add some garlic bread or toast and

In no time... you have a great (easy) lunch your
family will enjoy!

Chicken Broccoli Alfredo

1 jar of Alfredo sauce
1 bag of frozen Broccoli florets
1 cup milk
Angel hair pasta (enough for your family)
2 to 4 Boneless Chicken breast or thighs  ( I use chicken breast.)

Cube Chicken and brown.  Season to taste.  Once the Chicken is cooked add the frozen broccoli to the pot. Add water to steam the broccoli.  Steam for 5 minutes. Turn down the heat to low and stir in Alfredo sauce.  Pour one cup of milk to sauce jar and shake.  Add to pot.  Let it simmer just until it begins to heat the sauce.  Your done!

Add your cooked pasta to the heated Alfredo sauce.

* I  only just 3 chicken breast for my family, but this all depends upon the
size of the chicken when it comes out of the bag!

Granola, Granola, Granola!

On My quest to be as
frugal as possible, I have been in the
process of trying to find recipes
that my family will love but are
also very inexpensive.

I have been making my own yougert
for a few weeks.  But, there is
just something about yogurt....

YOU NEED GRANOLA!
Well, we do anyway... Smiley

I found a great recipe from a friend of mine at Little Natural Cottage.

Kristy has written and published a great ebook called:
The Cottage Mama Plans her Menu.

In it I found this great Vanilla Spice Granola recipe.

It was simple and easy to make.
Just cooking it in the oven made me so hungry to try it.
It made the house smell so good...
we were just eyeing the timer on the oven.

Once I took it out of the oven, my girls
ran into the kitchen and began devouring it!
Never mind that it was still pretty hot!
Smiley

Kristy, thank you for a great recipe!
I just love her ebook, she has a two week menu planned
with a shopping list for each week!
Which for busy mama's makes it a great resource!

If you are like me and you are always trying to
find new menu ideas that are budget friendly...
I would encourage you to check her ebook out.

Now, I am off to make some more yogurt!

Have a wonderful day!

My girls love to spend time with there Daddy.... so I think I am going to drop some of these ideas in his head so they can have fun memory making "dates".    One of my favorite ideas is the Silly Sock Day.  Your husband and daughter get a small notebook and pencil and head to the mall.... while there they go to every store and look at their Socks!  After you have looked and made note of the craziest, wildest sock you found then you go and buy it.  Of course you need to find a pair for dad and daughter alike.  How fun would that be...

So what are you waiting for.... get busy making memories Dad!

Start making memories that last a lifetime
This innovative book gives dads a wide variety of fun ideas for spending quality time with their little girls. Each date tells you what to grab (any needed supplies), where to go, and how to grow together while having a blast. You'll also find Scriptures and questions for each date to get conversation flowing. From bird-watching and making paper airplanes to bowling and photo scavenger hunts, there's something for every dad and every little girl ages 6-12.
She'll be your daughter for life. But she'll only be your little girl for a while. Make the most of this special time with the help of 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates.

Love's Sacred Song: Book Review

Love's Sacred Song By Mesu Andrews

*This book was given to me to read and review by Revell a division of Baker Publishing Group.  The opinions are mine.*

Wisdom came as God's gift, but sacred love was forged through passion's fire
Standing in the shadow of his famous father, young King Solomon wavers between fear and bravado, longing for a love that is true and pure--a love that can be his cornerstone.
A shepherdess in the northern city of Shunem, Arielah has known since she first laid eyes on Solomon that it was her destiny to become his bride. When her father secures a promise from Solomon to marry Arielah as a treaty bride to help unite the kingdom, it seems her dreams will come true.
But how can this simple shepherdess live as part of Solomon's harem? Can Solomon set aside his distractions to give himself completely to just one woman? Or will he let duty, deception, and the daily routine divide his heart?
Mesu Andrews expertly weaves the words of the Song of Solomon into this touching story of the power of love from a master storyteller.

This is a FICTIONAL story based on Song of Solomon.   Mesu Andrews uses her own imagination  while telling this story.  I have to say that I did enjoy reading this love story.   In it you will find mystery along side with wonderful love story.  If you love ... Love stories than this one is one you may want to consider.

Have fun reading!

made in a day

I love Blog Hops!

Welcome to Homeschooling Adventures!

I have been so busy lately that I don't know where to start!

This week we are at my parents house waiting for my truck to
get fixed.

You know your a homeschooling when you
pack up all the materials needed and
head to visit family.

We walked in to my parents house and my mother
began laughing...

She said " Did you bring enough with you"

"Yap, all the school books we need for the  next few days!"

The best part:

The girls work better and faster here than at home!
Wonder why?

Anyway,

I do hope and pray that my truck will get fixed and
we can head home soon...

Have a great day everyone!

Sarai: Book Review

   Sarai by Jill Eileen Smith

This book was given to me to read and review by
Revell.  The opinion are mine and mine alone.

This is the first in the Wives of Patriarchs Sersies.
This is a fictional story about the Biblical Character of
Sarai and Abram.

I enjoyed the story.  It gave a real vivid history
of the life style of that time frame.  At first I did not know what to make of what I was reading, so I did a little digging into the history of that time... I am glad I did!  Another Great book from Jill Eileen Smith.

I can't wait until  Jill's next book.

He promised her his heart. She promised him a son. But how long must they wait?
When Abram finally requests the hand of his beautiful half sister Sarai, she asks one thing--that he promise never to take another wife as long as she lives. Even Sarai's father thinks the demand is restrictive and agrees to the union only if she makes a promise in return--to give Abram a son and heir. Certain she can easily do that, Sarai agrees.
But as the years stretch on and Sarai's womb remains empty, she becomes desperate to fulfill her end of the bargain, lest Abram decide that he will not fulfill his. To what lengths will Sarai go in her quest to bear a son? And how long will Abram's patience last?
Combining in-depth research and vivid storytelling, Jill Eileen Smith brings to life the beautiful and inscrutable Sarai in this remarkable story of love, jealousy, and undaunted faith.

Choosing the Right Curriculum

It's that time of year again...

It's when I start to look into buying next years curriculum.

I know that this is only March, but I love to get great deals
on used and new curriculum alike.

But,

I always have a problem....

I always question....

Is this going to be the "right" choice for the girls.

How do I know that I am choosing the right curriculum for them.

Well....

I don't!

I have had some hits and misses along the way, but there are some
things that I have learned along the way.

1.     Will they be bored?

Yes, this is the first thing I ask myself.  I don't want them to be learning/
reading something that will have them bored to tears!
Now, there is nothing I can do about Math and Language Arts.
They have to know how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc...
They have to know how to use proper English...
But...
I can make sure that History and Science are fun and interesting!

2.   What Do They want to learn about next year?

I always want to know what do they want to learn about.  I then
look for a curriculum to cover those topics.

3.  Do they want me to "teach" them ?

I have found that if I am the instructor and have inter action with them,
they learn and comprehend better.
I do do some independent learning with them, but with History , I have
found that they love the interaction...
(this just took me a few yrs to learn btw)Smiley

4.  The cost!

How much is all this going to cost me!  I am one that will not
pay over a certain price for one subject... Now if
I can use it for both my girls, than
a high priced Curriculum, I may consider.

I have also learned that if one wants to learn American History,
than the other one will be learning the same
thing.  I will buy each their own
curriculum for their grade...
It makes it much easier to have to have one frame of mind on one subject
than go from American History to World Geography and so on.

Let's keep MOM sane! Smiley

How do you choose your curriculum?
I would love to hear from you.

Happy Homeschooling,

Shelby

Heart's Safe Passage by Laurie Alice Eakes

This is the second book in the Midwives Series.

I was pleasantly pleased with this novel. Book two follows Phoebe Lee, Tabitha's apprentice from
Lady in the Mist (book one of the Midwives Series.).
Phoebe is summoned by her sister in law.  Unknown to Phoebe, she is about to
be taken on a ride of her life.  Belinda, (the sis in law) wants
Phoebe to help her save her husband from an England prison.  When Phoebe does
not go willingly, she finds her self aboard a ship anyway headed for England.

Heart's Safe Passage is a novel filled with (for a better lack of word) action!
The voyage tests Phoebe's medical knowledge, her patience, and her faith!

This is another must read book for all you book lovers out there.

Check out it out HERE!

Scripture of the Month

1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

He is faithful to do all He has promised in his Word. I'm so glad that he is faithful to meet our needs and to give us our wants. There is no one Greater than OUR LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!
