Choices of the Heart

This is another great book by Laurie Alice Eakes.  She has done another fantastic job.  She keeps you captivated.  I could not put this book down...      I have truly enjoyed all her books in the Midwives series.  This one did not disappoint! It has a captivating story line, with adventure and romance.

She thought she had left her old life behind . . .

Esther Cherrett comes from a proud line of midwives and was trained by her mother to take over the family calling. When a terrible scandal threatens all she holds dear, Esther flees, taking a position as a teacher in the wild western mountains of Virginia. But instead of the refuge she was seeking, Esther finds herself in the midst of a deadly family feud-and courted by two men on opposite sides of the conflict. All she wants is to run away again.

Yet could it be that her past holds the key to reconciliation-and love?

In this gripping story of trust, deception, and bittersweet loss, you’ll discover the true meaning of choices of the heart.

Waiting for Spring

Waiting for Spring
by Amanda Cabot

A new identity may protect her family-but can it protect her heart?
After the loss of her husband and the birth of her baby, Charlotte has had a long, hard year. But she can find no rest from the ghosts of the past and flees to Cheyenne to put the pieces of her life back together.
Wealthy cattle baron and political hopeful Barrett Landry must make a sensible match if he is to be elected senator of the soon-to-be state of Wyoming. He needs someone with connections. Someone without a past. Yet he can’t shake the feeling that Charlotte holds the key to his heart and his future.
Will Charlotte and Barrett find the courage to look love in the face? Or will their fears blot out any chance for happiness?

This is book two of the Westward Winds series by Amanda Cabot.  I really enjoyed reading about Charlotte's courage.  If you have read book one Summer of Promise, then you know a little of Charlotte's story.  Waiting for Spring is a book that could be read along without having to read Summer of Promise.

It was an enjoyable read. I wonder who the next book will be about...

The Lesson...

The Book I have been waiting to read has finally arrived!

The Lesson by Suzanne Woods Fisher

I had been waiting with anticipation for the last book  in the Stony Ridge Season series.
In The Lesson , the story features my favorite character of the Lapp family:

M. K. ( Mary Kate Lapp)!

She is so funny... she has one of the most courteous minds around... and she gets herself into so much trouble because of it!  Well, nothing has changed in this novel.. she still is finding herself in trouble even
at the age of 18.

But this time... she is in for the ride of her life!

I love Suzanne Fisher's novels.  She has a way of making you laugh and cry (sometimes from laughing so much).

This book did not disappoint me.  I knew I would be captivated by the characters and I was.

If you have not checked out the Stony Ridge Season Series.. take time out and do so..
you will fall in love with the Lapp family.

Here are the first two books in the Stony Ridge Series

and

You can find  The Lesson any where Christian books are sold.

Happy Reading!

About:

Sometimes love shows up when you least expect it.
Nineteen-year-old Mary Kate Lapp yearns for adventure, but all she seems to find is trouble. Her dreams of travel have taken a backseat to her assignment to teach school this year. And nothing ever seems to happen in her sleepy Amish community.
But when a sudden and unexplained death conveniently coincides with the arrival of a mysterious young man, M.K. is frustrated that no one takes it seriously. She’s determined to take matters into her own hands and get to the bottom of it. Will she find more than she bargained for?

Vanished...

Reporter Moira Harrison is lost. In the dark. In a thunderstorm. When a lone figure suddenly appears in the beam of her headlights, Moira slams on her brakes-but it’s too late. She feels the solid thump against the side of her car before crashing into a tree on the far side of the road.
A man opens her door, tells her he saw everything, and promises to call 911. Then the world fades to black. When she comes to, she is alone. No man. No 911. No injured person. But she can’t forget the look of terror she saw on that face in the instant before her headlights swung away. And she can’t get anyone to believe her story-except maybe a handsome ex–homicide detective turned private eye, who reluctantly agrees to take on the case.
As clues begin to surface, it becomes obvious that someone doesn’t want this mystery solved-and will stop at nothing to protect a shocking secret.

If you like suspenseful novels, this is one you will want to read!
Irene Hannon has done another excellent  job... she keeps you on your seat with suspense.
I read this book during our Christmas break, and I could not put it down.  Page after page I kept telling myself that I will stop reading and get to something else, but I just could not put it down.
One thing I really like about Irene Hannon's books are that my teenager can read them.
There are very few authors I let my daughter read, but this is one she will enjoy...

Scripture of the Month

1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

He is faithful to do all He has promised in his Word. I'm so glad that he is faithful to meet our needs and to give us our wants. There is no one Greater than OUR LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!
